St John the Baptist, Little Maplestead Church - The church of St John the Baptist, seen here from the South is
a very much restored piece of work. There is little of the original medieval
feel left on display here, with the obvious exception of course, of the overall
form of the church.

St John the Baptist, Little Maplestead Church - Built possibly as late as 1335, it is one of only five
circular churches remaining in England. Of the other four, one is the the late
C12 Temple church in London, and the other three are Norman churches, at Ludlow
Castle, Northampton and Cambridge.

St John the Baptist, Little Maplestead Church - This church was built by the Knights Hospitallers, and was
built in the form that the Knights Templars had traditionally built, which, in
turn was based upon the form of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.
